How did your financial situation influence your Christmas plans or gift-giving this year?

My financial situation did not influence my Christmas plans or gift giving this year. We have a very minimalist Christmas and we always have. We buy one gift for our daughter, have only a couple of Christmas foods for lunch That's our lot for Christmas.

Hi Prad

My financial situation influences ALL my plans, not just Christmas or gift giving. That sounds ugly, so let me break it down.

For gifts of any occasion, my siblings and I decided many years ago to stop giving each other gifts. The gifts had mutated into cash, and we were shuffling money between us, so we decided to just buy presents for ourselves and attribute that gift as from a person or group. Did I buy myself a gift? No.
Christmas is for children, and I will always budget to allow for gifts (deposits) into my great niece’s accounts for birthdays and Christmas for my niece to save/spend on them as she sees fit.
That said, my original statement holds true, my financial situation (budget) will afford me no plans for Christmas or 2026.
I’ve already mapped out what my expenses will be this year, their timing and funding; so, if you’re talking about travel plans, there are none.
