It will have to be housing. Accommodation shortcomings and Homelessness caused by the vacancy of dwellings used for "AirBnB", failure to build sufficient new housing for ALL different sections of the population and added to by the 800.000 new arrivals (>450.000 immigrants +>350.000 International Students) each year. Federal/State Government promises of numbers TO BE BUILD when the numbers tell that what they want is not possible (EG: the $10 Billion Housing fund established 2 years ago has delivered 8 dwelling so far of 40.000 promised and they were bought, not built.) And they cannot see that. but keep making these promises that are guaranteed to fail.
Add all that need housing up and there are > 2Million people ALREADY looking for AFFORDABLE accommodation/housing.
When the Federal Government provides $600.000.000 (600 Million) to the Northern Territory Administration to Build 400 dwellings, AT A COST OF $1.500.000 EACH? what hope is there to provide $1.8 TRILLION for the Federal promise of 1.2 million dwellings?

The most pressing issue at the moment is housing. Housing is a major cost whether paying off a mortgage or renting. We need a boost in affordable housing supply in all major capital cities, so people aren't wasting money on renting (paying an investors loan off), and instead are paying off an asset. for themselves. People don't feel secure until they have a home to call their own. The stability a home brings is highly beneficial to someone's mental health and wellbeing and gives them the confidence and motivation to work and succeed. I know many families where adult children mid 20's and older are still living in the family home as they do not earn enough to be able to afford to service a mortgage and the banks would not lend them the high amounts required to buy property which today is highly priced. Hopefully, the mid 20's and above people can get into the market with more supply, lower interest rates, banks being more generous and not including HECS debt in their calculations and first home buyer allowances and schemes. Social housing will help, but that is always geared toward low income/no income older people and young families, and not geared toward an entire generation that couldn't get onto the property market as singles.
